Who or what is audio:erosion?
audio:erosion is my solo studio project. My name is Martin Pallett – I write songs, play all the instruments, record the vocals and mix and master the songs for release. I also create album artwork and music videos for them.
I started out playing music in my teens when I lived in Canada and I eventually spent 10 years on the road in rock bands playing around western Canada.
I moved back to the UK in 2002 and have played almost constantly since in several different bands including On the Edge, The Unusual Suspects and Vogon Freeway.
Currently I play guitar, lap steel and vocals with Moonshine Coyote – a cigar box guitar band based in Saffron Walden.
Which leads to the question: what genre of music is audio:erosion?
And this is the question I hate the most – to me it’s rock music but these days that’s not enough. I now describe it as alternative rock with industrial undertones and a bit of groove thrown in for good measure in a cinematic 80s, 90s, indie, guitar based kind of vein.
I believe that the real answer is that it shouldn’t be up to me to define it – it should be up to you, the listener.
Best thing to do is have a listen and form your own opinion!
Do you really play all the instruments?
Yes. I play the guitar, bass, and keyboards, and create the drums through a combination of playing the basic beat on a keyboard, and then adding MIDI loops for some fills and rolls (which are often edited to make them fit). I don’t use loops for anything else.
Are you on social media?
No.
Why not?
I don’t believe it’s a good thing. Please see here…
Do you have any live shows coming up?
As audio:erosion is currently a studio only project, unfortunately not. If I can find the right group of musicians in the future that may change.
Is there any more of your music I could listen to?
Yes. Some of my older songs and demos are available at https://soundcloud.com/martin-pallett
Also, Moonshine Coyote has released several songs.
How can I contact you?
